1. One interpretation: Dems better run pres candidate who gets
out the southern vote for Dems -- ie, someone who excites enough southerners to vote.

I agree that we don't need the South to win if we pick up, say, Ohio. But why aim for just the minimal number of states to win? We can win much of the South with the right candidate.
