Democrats, who dominated the 2006 and 2008 elections, are losing their edge in Ohio, a new poll shows...

Fisher and Brunner, who are running to replace retiring Republican U.S. Sen. George Voinovich in 2010, both hold a slight advantage over the Republican front-runner Rob Portman, a former congressman from Cincinnati and former Bush administration official...

Brunner openly criticized Fisher Tuesday on her blog, underscoring the contentious nature of the race.

"If this race for the U.S. Senate is about the trappings of insider politics, then I suspect Lee Fisher will be your man," she wrote...

...The manifesto acknowledges what she says has been a behind-the-scene effort to get her out of the race in part because she has been unable to raise as much money as Fisher.

She quotes a member of congress who is not named warning her to quit.

"You need to take one for the team, even though I don't think the Lt. Gov. can win in the general election," she repeats in what amounts to another shot at Fisher.

Brunner's post is clearly timed to counter soon-to-be-released campaign finance reports that will show Fisher with a wide financial lead over Brunner. Fisher is expected to have raised close to $900,000 in the second quarter. He raised just over $1 million in the first quarter compared to Brunner's $200,000...

1. Remind me never to move to Ohio.
The residents of that state must have awfully short memories...

2. Ohioans need to remember
what brought us to this terrible downfall. Eight long years of nothing but corrupt Repukes.

3. Doesn't mean they will remember it.
Anyway, a lot of people who supported him feel like the "change" is not happening and Wahington is still same-old-shit.

7. They aren't going to
remember because the print media is horribly slanted. If that was not enough there is the constant attacks on everything Democrat or progressive on Ohio talk radio and local TV programming. Kasich is attacking Strictland for causing the loss in jobs as if it has nothing to do with the economic collapse. What can Strictland possibly do under these circumstances?

4. It was in Ohio that Obama led the people to believe he would
drop the Free Trade and would make it Fair Trade.

As soon as he got to the WH, he accomodated Wall Sreet
and has become a Free Trader. Once again just like
Clinton, the working people kicked to side of road.

5. Ummmm......
Follow the frickin money. The people in Ohio who voted for Obama ain't getting it. Meanwhile he is throwing it at the corporations. And they are not creating jobs. Or lowering prices.

If Obama doesn't deliver something tangible to positively impact day to day lives then he is likely to get his butt kicked when he seeks re-election. Patience is for those who have the luxury of waiting for circumstances to improve. Tens of millions don't have that luxury.

6. Voters fickle?
I wasn't surprised at all to read this yesterday. Unemployment is higher in Ohio than the national average and rust-belt Northern Ohio (with even higher unemployment) continues to bleed jobs.

The Obama administration has better cared for Wall Street than Main Street and the working class - especially minorities - continue to scrape along.

I don't blame people for questioning the 'recovery', even though little of the stimulus money has been spent, while the Wall Street bailouts and GM 'loans' have captured the headlines.

Obama decided to get into bed with the Wall Street corporadoes, rather than listen to left-liberal economists like Krugman and Reich. This recent poll should be considered a "morning after" wake-up call.

I certainly hope he gets the message.

8. Not surprising
Ohio was a red state during the 2000 and 2004 elections.

9. Actually, I interpret Obama's poll number drops differently.
First of all, there is the question of whether these poll number drops are actually true, which I doubt. These polls are paid for by big corporations and are sold to big corporations. So right off the bat you know that they are going to be rigged.

Second, if they are true, they more likely represent a rise in racism than in actual opinion about President Obama. The constant hammering by the radical racist right and their talk show hosts is finally starting to impact the minds of the sheeple.
