WASHINGTON, Oct 30, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Non-Profit Election Watchdog Demands Failed Machines Be Removed from Service, Impounded

Velvet Revolution ("VR"), a non-profit dedicated to fair, honest, accurate and transparent elections, today called for elections officials in all states to immediately impound any voting machine that has flipped votes from one candidate to another. It has been widely reported in the media over the past week of early voting that Direct Recording Election (DRE, usually touch-screen) voting machines made by ES&S, Diebold, Sequoia and Hart InterCivic have been flipping votes, predominantly from Democratic candidates to Republican candidates, but in some reported cases, just the opposite. (See: http://www.bradblog.com/?page_id=6577).
These vote flips were first reported in West Virginia and the elections official there quickly ordered the recalibration of some machines, but video has shown that recalibration does not correct the problem and the flips continue.
(See: http://www.velvetrevolution.us/electionstrikeforce/2008/10/video_the_vote_captures_video.html)

Vote flipping has also now reported to have occurred in Texas, Tennessee, Missouri, Nevada, Colorado, Georgia and elsewhere.

INTERESTING HOW THE VOTE FLIPPING IS ALWAYS FROM DEM TO REPUB CANDIDATE. JUST AN ERROR I GUESS, HUH?

"WHAT ME WORRY?" WHAT DO YOU THINK.

1. It's time for a National system, a National election day holiday,
and an END to touchscreen voting machines!

Let's have a National contest to design a universal ballot; intuitive, clear, unambiguous and fair- and lets' use it from next year forward. Let's teach children how to vote using the ballot from first grade on. Let's ensemble a team from top universities and corporations like Apple to design a simple, un-hackable, fail proof paper ballot scanner that can be studied and verified as such by top experts in twenty of the world's most free and Democratic Nations. When the ballot is scanned, have the machine print out a receipt that voters can double check and keep. Isn't our democracy worth it?

3. NOW THERE'S A GOOD IDEA! A NATIONAL CHALLENGE WITH A FINANCIAL REWARD AT THE END.

But we also need an uprising NOW to impound the machines that do the flippiing. An investigation with a look to prosecutions is needed. But we need an uprising to get it.

email congress and demand it! everyone!

6. The reward need not be financial
the reward would be a place in history; being one of those responsible for making the American Dream of a truly free Democratic society a reality.

People should also automatically be signed up to vote when they get their driver's license. Non-Driver's should be able to register easily through the DMV or board of elections.

5. What are attorney's supposed to do? They're not computer programmers.
They're not computer technicians. They can't fix a computer, nor can they make anyone fix a computer.

7. Faulty machines should be impounded so an investigation can be undertaken. to see if there is a
basis for prosecution.

8. Theft of Votes is Un-American
If those slimy bastards steal this election I am leaving the country because I refuse to live in a totalitarian country for one more year. It has been hard enough living under this unelected regime for eight years.
