Mike Dovilla, a former aide to Sen. George Voinovich who lost a 2006 congressional challenge to Rep. Dennis Kucinich, has signed on as campaign manager for the Republican who's taking on Kucinich this year -- former state Rep. Jim Trakas of Independence.
After winning 34 percent of the vote against Kucinich in 2006, Dovilla served a yearlong tour of duty in Iraq
as a
naval intelligence officer.
In a press release from the campaign, Dovilla called Trakas "the strongest candidate to challenge Dennis Kucinich in the last decade" and declared he's "confident Dennis' days in Washington are numbered."
Trakas said Dovilla ran a "tough grassroots campaign, but struggled in a year when Republicans were hit hard."...
