What do you think of this idea:
Get about 50 people to legally change their name to Darrell Issa. Then put them on the ballot in California. This will break his vote up a bit. We could even get one to change their name to "Congressman Darrell Issa" so it sticks out and they vote for that one thinking it really is the Congressman.

I know Republicans try every election to put another Richard Gephardt on the ballot to confuse voters but the (R) after the name is what gives it away. In this case, nobody would get the (R) or (D) after their name because there is no nomination.

What do you think, good or bad idea?

1. Sure...
... if you can find 50 people willing/able to change their name and either front $3500 or get 10k signatures... by the end of the week.

Oh, and party affiliation does appear on the ballot, I think.

2. Issa is not the threat
Issa is not going to get many votes in this recall. The Repubs are thrilled that he spent his money to buy the recall votes, but no one wants to see Issa as governor other than Issa himself.

If Riordan runs, we have a problem -- he's much more of a California Republican.

3. Several years ago in the Louisiana gubenatorial election
there were nine candidates in the initial eklection. The last candidate on the ballot legally changed his name to "None of the Above." He did fairly well in the election.
