More than 3.4 million new voters, AP survey finds
AP IMPACT: More than 3.4 million new voters, AP survey finds

By MIKE BAKER, Associated Press Writer 46 minutes ago

DURHAM, N.C. - Voter excitement, always up before a presidential election, is pushing registration through the roof so far this year — with more than 3.4 million people rushing to join in the historic balloting, according to an Associated Press survey that offers the first national snapshot.

Figures are up for blacks, women and young people. Rural and city. South and North.

Overall, the AP found that nearly one in 66 adult Americans signed up to vote in just the first three months of the year. And in the 21 states that were able to provide comparable data, new registrations have soared about 64 percent from the same three months in the 2004 campaign.

Voters are flocking to the most open election in half a century, inspired to support the first female president, the first black or the oldest ever elected.

Also, the bruising Democratic race has lasted longer than anyone expected, creating a burst of interest in states typically ignored in an election year.

4. interesting Freudian slip in your post.
I'm guessing that you meant to type inspired, butinstead wrote insipid.

in·sip·id –adjective
1. without distinctive, interesting, or stimulating qualities; vapid: an insipid personality.
2. without sufficient taste to be pleasing, as food or drink; bland: a rather insipid soup.

5. Well, Rove, Cheney and the Chimp disappeared 3 million votes in '04
what's another 1/2 million? Cage the Black votes (see Armed Madhouse and Fooled Again), put out the usual drivel that young folk talk and activate but don't vote, flip the rest on your 10 second hackable machines and - McCain puts on his monkey costume for four years while Baker, Cheney and the Saudis bathe in our blood and their oil.
