Gallup: Obama lead over Clinton largest this year

by Mike Dorning

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Barack Obama now has a 10-percentage point lead over Hillary Clinton in a national tracking poll conducted by Gallup, the largest lead he has posted in the poll this year.

Gallup reported Obama now leads among Democrats 52 percent against 42 percent for Hillary Clinton, the third day in a row he has held a statistically significant lead against Clinton in the poll.

The movement in the national poll follows a week in which Clinton was widely lampooned for exaggerated accounts she gave of a visit to Bosnia in which she claimed she ran for cover under sniper fire. After the pilot of her plane and reporters who were on the trip with her disputed the account, she conceded she her account was a "mistake" and chalked the incident up to campaign-trail fatigure. But the exaggeration rapidly became fodder for late-night comics and video spoofs on the Internet.

Allies of Barack Obama, most notably Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), also last week promoted arguments that Clinton now has little chance of winning the Democratic nomination and that a prolonged Democratic primary would damage the eventual nominee.

The tracking poll averages polling over the past three days. Gallup noted Obama's strongest lead was in polling conducted on Saturday, the most recent day included.

3. The media is doing its job. Another couple of weeks creating a story
about Bosnia will do it...forget the facts. Distort, attack. That will get Obama back up in the polls after the Wright fiasco. Truth? We are not after truth.

7. I am not your "dear"
And she fabricated nothing. She went into the front lines of a war zone. Anyone who watched the CBS report that was created at the time she went, knew that she was in a war zone. And, you could hear sniper fire while the tape was playing...she may have exaggerated. But, so has Obama many times when his "misspeaks" were forgiven.

9. Whose head would have rolled if the First Lady or the First Daughter were actually in danger?
Let's assume that there was some element of danger placed on these two members of the first family. Someone should be fired for putting these two in any kind of danger where there was any chance of them being hit. What moron sets up a ceremonial meeting in a real war zone?

Come on. Get real. This whole thing is a nitpicky attempt to attack Clinton.

anyone who would have put the first family in any place where it's possible that the would have actually been hit would have been canned tout de suite.

4. I think some fence sitters were horrified by her behavior once this story
broke. Instead of taking real ownership of her "misspeak", she attempted to reignite an issue that Obama had quite eloquently addressed. Considering she had declined to comment at the height of the story, most everyone saw that as an underhanded and desparate attempt to change the subject.

I think the party is finally waking up.

The party is being swayed by the media who took this molehill and attacked Clinton for two weeks straight in an attempt to get the WRight piece out of the minds of the voters.

And, of course it worked. This is not about waking up. Obama has many "misspeaks" that are forgiven and ignored.

This is about vilification of Clinton.
