Debate Alert! Hillary And Campaigns Accept Invite To ABC Debate In Philly
By Greg Sargent - March 13, 2008, 4:58PM

From the no-rest-for-the-weary-of-debates department comes this release just out from the Clinton camp...

The Clinton campaign today announced that Hillary has accepted an invitation to participate in a primetime debate hosted by ABC. The debate will be held in Philadelphia, PA in advance of the April 22nd Pennsylvania primary. The debate will be broadcast statewide and nationally.

No word on what the Obama camp will do yet.

Late Update: The Obama campaign accepts the ABC debate and one-ups the Hillary campaign with this release...

Today, Barack Obama accepted invitations to nationally televised debates with Senator Hillary Clinton in Philadelphia on April 16th and in North Carolina on April 19th.

The Pennsylvania debate will be hosted by ABC News and held in the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia on Wednesday, April 16. The North Carolina debate, hosted by CBS News at a location to be determined, will be hosted by CBS and moderated by Katie Couric and Bob Schieffer.

I'll see your Pennsylvania and raise you a North Carolina.

Okay, so the Philly debate will happen on April 16th. No word on what Camp Hillary will do on North Carolina.

And it looks like Katie Couric will get to moderate a debate, after all!

1. Enough Debates

Obama doesn't need to debate Republicans until AFTER the nomination.

Late Update: It gets worse. Obama has accepted and proposes yet another debate, this one in North Carolina, with Katie Couric moderating.

Eyes. Glazing. Over.

4. Geeze, too bad, I'll be out of town. If I make it until the 2012
election, I swear I'll scream from the rooftops if the politico's and media start this whole damn process so early. We're all sick of it and we have months to go. We'll be in a fog by the time it gets to November. Enough already!

9. Yes...I agree.
When they do "debate" they say things like...we both are on the same page about this or that. The important questions are never answered.

When do we get our Constitution and Bill of Rights back? Habeas Corpus? Like Jefferson when Adams had the Sedition Act? The first hour of the first day Clinton, Obama, and McCain. If you swore an oath of office you will be a liar if you don't (or haven't so far). The freedom and democracy thing means little to them apparently.

5. Katie Couric!!
NUmber 1- I never forgave her downright rudeness to Kerry.
Number 2- She is too self absorbed to ever make a good moderator.
Number 3- Cute just doesn't work in this setting!

Having her be the moderator will really debase these debates. I'll be surprised if it isn't a total fiasco.

10. I fucking hate KKKatie Couric and the way she interviews Democrats.
KKKatie's key tactic is to fire off five or six loaded questions, and then only allow the Democrat to answer one or two of them before moving on the the next barrage.

I'd like to find a way to insert her into her own colon.
