Edwards running for Governor of North Carolina?
It would be a way of Edwards to stay in the political lime light and do some good for North Carolina, unless he takes the VP position with Kerry. The idea is being thrown around here in NC.

1. I doubt that Mike Easley would like that
Edwards would have to get into a primary with Easley or convince Easley to drop out and neither of those scenarios seem likely. The campaign apparently, at least according to Robert Novak, increased Edwards's popularity in the state so he would probably be a strong candidate but it won't happen.

2. I've heard this rumor once before on DU
However, I have not seen any evidence to back it up.

Gov. Mike Easley is a Democrat and up for re-election this year. I don't see Edwards challenging an incumbent governor this time around.

5. I've heard all of these Edward running for governor or senator rumors
And they just don't make sense. It's late in the campaign and we have two great candidates in Mike Easley and Erskine Bowles. Edwards could very well be the VP nominee, and if he isn't, his campaigning would be beneficial for Kerry and I'm sure he'd be a strong contender for Attorney General.

However, if Edwards is now more popular in NC, then we should have him campaign here for Kerry, Easley and Bowles along the campaign trail. This would not only help Kerry (and in turn Edwards if he was a member of the cabinet), but the party as a whole if we could get these three men to win the state.

6. .
Never heard of that. I do wonder what he'll do if he doesn't get the VP nomination.

7. Kerry/Edwards
That is the score, and has been in the planning for sometime now, many who voted for Kerry, did so with the thoughts that Edwards would be the V.P.

8. I Don't think Edwards will trump Easley like that
However, Easley is somewhat unpopular here do to the lack of a NC Lottery.

p.s. Glad to see so many NC residents here: I still have legal residence in FL, but live in NC. Where will the vote against the chimp do the most good?

9. Smart Move
Puts him on the fast track to the White House - Nobody relates to the Senate - Governors become Presidents. At least since 1960....

I came here to see if there was discussion about this because I found this link today:

http://www.draftkerryedwards.com/

I grew up in the midwest, and I think Edwards would appeal to many voters there.
Hrrrrm. Gotta think about how I feel about this.

Anyone seen other decent links or suggestions for Veep candidates?
