ILLINOIS MUSLIMS FORM POLITICAL COORDINATING COUNCIL

(Chicago, IL., 2/27/2004) - A statewide coalition of American Muslim community organizations today announced the formation of a political coordinating council to promote community-based Muslim political participation and to defend against the erosion of civil liberties.

The new group, called the "Illinois Muslim Political Coordinating Council (IMPCC) will facilitate Muslims become "full partners in the development and prosperity of our homeland," defending the civil
rights of all Americans and developing alliances "on a wide variety of social, political, economic, and moral issues."

The IMPCC is a Muslim Civil Rights Center initiative and proudly sponsored by the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago, and its founding constituent members include: Muslim Civil Rights Center, CAIR-Chicago, Chicagoland Muslim Council, Dupage Minority Caucus, American Muslim Council-Chicago and area American Muslim community centers.

IMPCC also announced a candidate forum on Friday, March 5th at the Islamic Foundation of Villa Park starting at 6:00 PM. Islamic Foundation is located at 300 W. Highridge Ave. (between Ardmore and Westmore, north of Roosevelt-Rt. 38). Islamic Foundation's
