KELO/ARGUS POLL SHOWS STEPHANIE HERSETH WITH EARLY 58-29 ADVANTAGE
Voters Respond to Herseth’s Priorities of Lowering the Cost of Health Care, Taking Care of our Troops and Veterans, and Creating Good Paying Jobs
Sioux Falls, SD, February 11, 2004 – A new poll from KELO-TV and the Argus Leader shows Stephanie Herseth with a 29-point lead in the race for South Dakota’s U.S. House seat. The poll, released this evening, shows Herseth leading Larry Diedrich 58% to 29%, with 13% undecided. Mason-Dixon Polling & Research conducted the poll, surveying 800 likely voters on February 5-7.
Herseth said, “In Congress, I will prioritize South Dakota’s needs, like lowering the cost of health insurance and prescription drugs, taking care of our troops and veterans, implementing country of origin labeling, and creating good paying jobs for working families. I am committed to continuing to work hard and reach out to South Dakotans on these important issues, and to earn their support on June 1st."
Herseth grew up on her family’s fourth-generation farm and ranch near Houghton, South Dakota, thirty-five miles northeast of Aberdeen. She began her legal career in South Dakota working with Judge Charles B. Kornmann in Pierre and Aberdeen in 1998-99, and was the Democratic nominee for the U.S. House in 2002. Most recently, Herseth taught at SDSU and Augustana College, and served as executive director and legal counsel of the South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation. She currently resides in Brookings. ---
Alright! Expect it to tighten, but Stephanie Herseth is the odds on favorite to take this seat for the Democats. Two special election victories, one for Ben Chandler and one for Herseth, would switch formerly safe Republican districts to Dems and may be an indicator of a Democratic year in 2004. Lets all do what we can to help Stephanie, her special election is in June, a whiles away, and we can be sure that the Republican Smear Machine will do what it can to take her out.

On a side note - if she wins, she'll probably be the most attractive US Representative in the house! What a pretty lady, she may ideal for a Senate seat.
