Gabbard considers run against Rep. Ed Case (This man is pure scum)
I seriously despise this man. Although I have disagreements with Ed Case, the man that is running for his seat is pure scum in my view. When the Hawaii Supreme Court ruled that the voters of Hawaii must decide whether or not homosexuals should have the right to marry, he was the person who led the anti-gay campaign here. Him and his wife are one of the most homophobic couples I have seen here in Hawaii. His wife won a seat on the state education board due to her husband's name recognition and tried to strip anti-discrimination language based on sexual orientation from the board's literature.

I already know that the central issue during this Congressional run will be his opposistion to both homosexual marriage and homosexuals in general. In fact, that may be his only issue.

Do I think he can win? I don't think so. Ed Case is pretty popular here in the Islands and is much more positive than this @$$hole. Although there has been a minimal Republican resurgance here, I don't think Gabbard will get very far.

Freshman City Councilman Mike Gabbard has his sights set on a run for the congressional seat held by U.S. Rep. Ed Case.

Gabbard, who represents the Waianae-to-Ewa district, told Republican supporters at the Wednesday night Lincoln Day dinner at the Hilton Hawaiian Village that he was going to run to stress his anti-gay marriage position.

Gabbard declined to talk at length with the Star-Bulletin about his political plans after his comments at the hotel Wednesday. He said he was "discussing my plans with friends but (doesn't) intend to make anything public right now."

Reached Thursday, Gabbard repeated that he was still exploring the issue.
