For the first time in 20 years, Carole King hit the New Hampshire first-in-the-nation primary campaign trail yesterday, convinced that John Kerry has the “integrity and dignity” needed in a President. The legendary singer/songwriter will perform a concert for Kerry Tuesday at Concord City Auditorium. All the tickets to the free concert have been taken, but King said she is trying to plan additional concerts next week.

An environmental activist, King said in an interview she met Kerry about four years ago when she testified before a congressional committee on the Northern Rockies Eco-System Protection Act, a continuing effort to protect roadless lands as wilderness in that area.
She said she campaigned for Kerry in a Massachusetts U.S. Senate race several years ago after researching his record and finding that “just about every vote and just about every position lined up with my core Democratic values.”
“His whole career has been true and steady to the core Democratic values I’ve always believed in,” she said. Presidents, she said, should have a domestic agenda focused on working people rather than “special interests and should be a world-respected head of state and strong commander in chief without being a ‘war monger.’ ” http://www.theunionleader.com/articles_showa.html?article=31786
