1. Good news for Dean
But it's very close. I expect it to remain that way. Clark may have the edge as primary days gets closer.

3. Undecideds?
The undecideds seem to be a low number, compared to other parts of the country...Reason?

17. Another poll..
for South Carolina (Insider Advantage Poll) had the Undecideds at 50 percent. Maybe Surveyusa encourages them to choose 1.

4. Lesson from Iowa: Dean leads until attention is focused on race and every-
one starts campaigning hard. When that happens, Kerry and Edwards go up, Dean goes down, and Gep holds steady.

5. what has Iowa proved?
so far nothing. Let's wait until the votes are counted before you take your victory lap. So far, Dean is the only one with any bragging rights with his victory in DC.

7. What has Iowa proven?
Wake up & smell the coffee, Dean was not only leading but had a commanding lead (which is pretty much in the toilet now), D.C. proves nothing it's non binding & half the candidates didn't even campaign there.

So what has this proven? quite allot I think.

9. I think you discount the media firestorm effect mate
We've yet to see Clark and others under the glare. Your turn.

10. you're wrong
first Dean has not had a commanding lead, most Independent polls have showed a tight race between Dean and Gephardt.

I congratulate Dean for running a 50-state (plus DC) campaign, but again--what has Iowa proved? It still hasn't voted and you people are ready to write Dean off--which is what the press, pundits, and his opponents have been trying to do for a year without success.

16. 1. I haven't written Dean off (please show me where I said that)
2. With all the 2. It seems it's only been Dean supporters frothing at the polls latley beacuse they have been nice to Dean.

3. And back to the original question thats what Iowa Proves & D.C. was a non starter from the git go.

15. My comment is about the polls and not about winning.
Dean may still win in IA.

However, if you're citing a poll from another state as good news for Dean, I'm saying that IA is showing us that those numbers will probably close once the campaign reaches the intensity in that state that it has reached in IA.

6. I think Sharpton could use his maximum political effect
by endorsing someone, probably Clark, before South Carolina, which could very well give that person a decisive win.

8. I don't think Sharpton will drop out early.
My bet is that Sharpton is in this a long while, past Feb 3rd for sure, collecting delegates.

If he does endorse anyone would bet on Edwards or Kerry, even Lieberman. It will be someone who has a good civil rights record and an appeal to Sharpton's base - traditional Democrats.

I think AP is right that SC hasn't really even begun - apparently Edwards and Clark have the best ground operations there. When Edwards hits the ground I think his regional appeal will kick in on the retail level - and he will surprise everyone.

If Gep wins Iowa - then he can do well in SC - I think he'll appeal to SC voters also - his midwestern style will translate well in SC.

If I was simply betting based on candidate styles - Dean would do the worst - though he will bring some college kids and internet types to the polls and keep the anti-war voters who will be a smaller percentage than Iowa. Not time to discount Lieberman either - he has religion on his side and his hawkishness and reputation as a conservative will appeal to some. Kerry has veterans but like Dean, I have trouble seeing him appeal to SC voters on the retail level.

To sum up - would bet on Edwards, Clark and Gephardt in the top three spots - won't assign a particular order to them because it will be close, and Sharpton in fourth place.
