Former Texas Governor Ann Richards to Endorse Dean

Just saw it on CNN. Being from Texas, this will certainly go a long way toward getting the Texas vote.

Kerry, Edwards, Gebhart and Lieberman will be out of the race by then and their votes are not going to go to Dean. Also, Kucinich, who will never drop out, has a loyal following here in Austin, which subtracts votes from Dean.

she's the only other candidate I have ever done anything for. Back in college, I phone banked for her. I met her at an event the week before she declared her candidacy for governor. I was a waitress there, and she spent a solid ten minutes chatting with me, while all the big wigs hovered around, waiting for their chance. I always thought that was very cool of her.

I just totally adore her, and I am THRILLED to have her support!

17. I don't understand the disconnect

Dean's endorsements are coming from tried and true Democrats, people who were once rivals coming together in support, people who are admired for their integrity, for their commitment to progressive issues, for their commitment to good government, and people admired for their leadership regarding minority issues.

Very few of these people would expend political capital supporting someone who was a dirty campaigner, who hadn't earned their trust and respect, and who didn't stand a chance of beating Bush. Yet, the intensity of hatred of Dean here is like the heat from a blast furnace. Are all these people (Paul Simon , Ann Richards, Gore, Bradley, Harkin, Conyers, Jackson, et. al.) that clueless?

And if the only reason they are endorsing him is based on his electability, do we really think all of these people who are part of the Progressive Caucus who have endorsed Dean really that shallow in their convictions?
