PA Senate Race: Should a Progressive Democrat Enter the Race?

There is a rumor that a progressive Democrat (not me) is considering joining the race since Crystle (me) dropped out. The reasons given are that 1) the party needs the debate, 2) Joe Hoeffel is not a progressive, voting for the Patriot Act and the war, and 3) the Democratic Party needs to hear the progressive voice in every election.

This means Hoeffel would have to spend a substantial amount of money to win the primary (est: $3 million), depleting funds that could be used against Specter. On the other hand, this point implies that Hoeffel is the only good candidate so everyone else should step aside. So, here we go...

Of course, filing deadline is February 17, so there's only about a month and a week left.
