Pro-War Democrat Tom Lantos has a serious primary opponent?
I have looked through Politics1.com and the filings for offices in California, and I see Rohit "Ro" Khanna is challenging Tom Lantos for the Democratic nomination in the solidly Democratic 12th district of California.

Does he have a serious chance of an upset? The California Democrat council has endorsed him and he seems to have grassroots support.

His campaign website is: http://www.votero.com/

I'd like to see more primary challenges to DINO Congressmen in safe House seats.

1. I noticed when I looked at your profile that you were an ex-Republican

To help you out with the transistion, please change the line The California Democrat council to the The California Democratic Council

Thank you ! :-)

*On top of that, there are probably a lot of pro-war Democrats that could be facing serious primary challenges next year.

On edit, wow, he sure has a nice website. He would be a great addition to the party :-)

2. I live in Lantos' district and this is the 1st I've heard of Khanna
Unlikely that Lantos, an incumbent, would face a serious challenge in the primary, but I can always hope.

4. I was typing fast

Tom Lantos has been very supportive of the war. The seat is safe Democratic. Why not go for a fresh, young, more Progressive voice.

I was Republican ... then I grew up ;-)

5. Lantos tried to screw the French over
He said that their wine was made with some strange process and tried to mess up their trade agreement when France opposed an unjustified invasion of Iraq.

7. Lantos not the best match for his constituents' foreign policy views.
I'm glad that Lantos supports working people and takes a good position on most issues. I really have problems with his international views. I think a primary challenge would not succeed I must say.

8. he's not a DINO
he voted for the war--and that doesn't necessarily make one a DINO

I'm in his district too and I'll probably end up voting for him in the primary

12. Wait.
So you're an ex-Republican, and now deciding that some of our most liberal Democratic congressmen are DINOS? LOL. That is just classic, man. :)

13. Tom Lantos
Tom Lantos had a 4 rating from the ACU this year. a 4 rating, and you call him a DINO.

Look at his Americans for Democratic action rating:

2002 On the votes that the Americans for Democratic Action considered to be the most important in 2002, Representative Lantos voted their preferred position 95 percent of the time.

Yeah, someone who votes liberal 95% of the time is not good enough for an ex-Conservative? Why am I surprised? :eyes:

14. He's a good Democrat?

Lantos is an AIPAC stooge. He seems always to be in favor of attacking Arab/Muslim countries.
