Texas is no different than the rest of the country where people or sheeple basically get their news from TV and hate radio. While local TV news coverage has been pretty balanced that I have seen, you still get those disgusting repuke quotes like "These senators are hurting the children of Texas". Idiot sheeple who think everything they hear on TV is true are going to buy that. However, 100% of the major metropolitan newspaper editorials have been against it and given good reasons not to support it. Explaining very plainly I might add, that the Congressional districts already favor the repukes 20 to 12 (out of the 32 seats TX has). What is happening in essence is that they are losing at the polls with the people who consistently vote for the incumbent Democrat in five of these districts that lean heavily repuke in statewide offices. Repukes can't stand that people cross party lines to vote for Democrats for Congress.

A recent poll that was taken showed that the Governor has no support on this issue across the state, especially in rural areas. It really is becoming a big issue, but that never stopped the repukes from ramming anything through. Note that the same thing is happening in the U.S. House.

Unfortunately, I don't think that the Democratic party has done a good job to get it's message out in the state. We should have billboards and radio spots demanding people call the Governor's office and telling him to stop wasting our taxpayer money. They have relied on the national media and that is just not cutting it in my opinion.

Remember repukes are single minded bastards and they will not give up no matter what. Think California.

Me personally, I think this is a big turning point against the GOP and there will be some backlash but unfortunately if they win then those people that would have taken their revenge at the polls will be minimized or disenfranchised. That is their whole plan after all, to guarantee super majority districts where they can't lose, and in 3 years when the voting rights act has to get re-certified, they're going to kill it. Pesky democracy - out the window.

...at last! Some Democrats with spine! It is ironic that these Dems happen to come from Shrub's home state.

16. Welcome to DU leomac!
It has to start in Texas because you're right this is where that little king war monger got his launch. Texas wasn't always horrible but as you can see things can quickly turn when you have evil minds like Karl Rove, Tom DeLay and Ken Lay coming out of Texas.

I am so proud of our Texas Senators, this is like the civil rights fight symbolically. And who knows if the repukes keep this up across the country we may have to take it back to the streets to win our equal rights back.

Stay tuned for battle updates from Texas.

17. Another reason I think they are intent on changing this now
is that they know that by 2006 or 2008, Anglo Repukes will be a minority and they want to insure that the minority controls the whole damn state anyway. They want a one-party dictatorship for decades.
