Fear and Loathing in Rockford

Hi, I'm a newbee to DU, It’s a great place to relax away from the howling of the Neo’s.
My question to you veteran Du ers out there is this.
I Live near Rockford, Illinois, And have noticed a lack of responses to the Rights continual attacks to those on the left.

They have been allowed to “Define Us”, I just don't understand the lack of fire here.
Our local message boards, Both through our newspaper and others have been almost completely taken over by the right, They tell the world what we are “About” ....
I’ve written those on the left here that I’ve been able to find with little or no success.

Any suggestions from those of you that know how to proceed ?

I used to live in Bettendorf (one of the quad cities, for those unfamiliar with the area). That was over 25 years ago but I stayed in touch with some of the people there and I know their thinking is very right. For example, my former landlord, a lovely man, was big on that rw pundit who got in trouble gambling...Bennett. It astounds me how these people can be fooled by these hypocrites.

My advice would be to forge ahead, assuming there are many others who feel the way you do. I am the veteran of many grassroots movements and I know it takes awhle to pick up steam but once you do, you will have many dedicated and hardworking colleagues. Just keep on writing to the editor, posting flyers, forming MeetUps and over a period of time, your allies will emerge.

Maybe some fellow DU-ers from the area will see your post and join forces.

2. The simple term "Rockford" reminds me of doing shitties in Dad's Plymouth!

Elgin, IL here... Hastert country.

You need to contact your local township and country Democratic organizations, and work with them. It will make you feel less alone.

I do plan on forging ahead where I can, It is at times a most frustrating thing to do.
With a Democratic Governor and Mayor, It’s surprising that the Right dominates the local boards and editorial responses here, I’m baffled.
I’ve contacted with those Demo Organizations, Basically stating what I’ve observed with no response as of today.

Makes me wonder if the leadership here has not been infiltrated or is just complacent,
Paranoid, I know .....
