Portland,Seattle: Heads Up for August Bush Visit

Just heard on NPR:

Bush to visit Portland on August 21 and rumored to visit Seattle on 8/22.

Please keep this kicked up once in a while and post what you hear about planned protests (where to meet, what time).

I'd try to do it myself, but I'm 9 months pregnant and might not be around in another week or two to follow-up. I can't believe I've waited 3 years for Bush to visit Seattle so I could demonstrate and protest right in front of him, and I might not be able to attend! However, if I can, my new child will be wearing an "Anyone But Bush" onesie, courtesy of the DU store!

2. I'll Be Waiting In Portland...

With my swimming goggles for the pepper spray and a leather jacket for the rubber bullets (also some talk of a competing rally in Pioneer Square). A local Howard Dean contingency will be there & they're trying to organize with the Seattle group about bussing down. Of course Ho-Ho himself will be here shortly after...

4. My free parenting advice

Remember, the robocops have no compunctions about pepperspraying infants. Last year, on August 22 2002, parents with toddlers trying to flee over the Hawthorne bridge in Portland got boxed in by masked cops and hosed down with pepperspray.

So remember to bring a rebreather with eye protection for your infant.
