Boycott Disney: Petition from Democrats.com
Sign it and pass the word!

Thanks. :)

Democrats.com Announces Disney Boycott
http://democrats.com/disney

Democrats.com, the leading web site for Democratic activists, today
launched a boycott of the Walt Disney Company to protest its refusal to distribute Michael Moore's new film, "Fahrenheit 911."

The film is highly critical of Bush's handling of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and his actions leading up the attacks. It links Bush with powerful Saudi families, including that of Osama bin Laden.

"As Americans, we are outraged that Disney would use its enormous power to censor Michael Moore, one of America's most important filmmakers," said Democrats.com president Bob Fertik.

"As Democrats, we are outraged that Disney would use its enormous power to prevent Americans from learning important and disturbing facts about George W. Bush, in order to keep voters from considering those facts when they vote in November," Fertik added.

Participants in the boycott will refuse to purchase Disney products until the company agrees to distribute "Fahrenheit 911." Those products include films, theme parks, toys, and TV networks.

1. Uh...
I don't know if this is enough to warrant a "boycott" of Disney. Most of the larger production and distribution companies will not get mixed up in something that's so policically charged; left-wing or right-wing. Is this really that unusual?

5. It's not so much the politics of Michael Moore's work
as it is the attempted censorship of free speech. In fact, if anybody's introduce politics into the quotient, it's Eisner. Obviously, he must know that Michael Moore's a liberal and that his work reflects his philosophy.

I don't know anything about the distribution end of the movie business, but if a deal was struck and signed off on to distribute this movie, it would seem ludicrous for Eisner to back out now and risked being sued. Hopefully, Michael will be able to sign up another distributer.

The right wing tried to quash the release of "Stupid White Men" and Bill O'Lielly slapped a frivolous lawsuit against Al Franken in an effort to suppress publication. This isn't going to end anytime soon. That is, unless and until good people who love this country and care about preservation of our liberties take a stand.

8. Well...
On the plus side, Disney has been trying to oust Eisner from his CEO position for some time now... and IIRC, it was Eisner that nixed the movie, no?

10. So true

I'm sorry that Comcast pulled out of the deal. :(

I find it hard to believe that Eisner is just now finding out that Michael Moore's politics lean left and that his body of work, while thought-provoking and intelligent, tends to stir controversy. Unless, of course, he's been living in a cave the last ten years, LOL.

The crux of the situation is this: Disney doesn't want to lose all those tax breaks Brother Jeb's been forking over to them.

2. I just signed and added my comment
Reading the comments is fascinating. By the time I took a look at the most recent 50, my comment was at the bottom of the page.

3. Well I certainly think it's worth letting Disney know...
but how do I boycott them? I have never been to Disneyland, rarely watch their TV channel, don't go to their movies, never wear their gear, and don't frequent their stores.

4. Done...
Hypocritical bastards...it's okay to run Rush & Hannity on WABC, but if the left wants a word or two in the discourse, it's censorship time...
