You guys wouldn't believe the vicious and hateful verbal attacks (some with bullhorns) from the scant few ant-women's rights fundies who cowered near the DC police along the march route.
One little blonde, about 8 years old, screamed that we would all burn in hell. She looked shocked, however, when I asked her mother if she would allow her daughter to die in childbirth or raise a child of rape, and her mother answered, "It's God's will."
How sad and desperate they seemed.

And it was my first big protest.

7. These anti-choicers are sick as hell.

They bring their kids to this shit, brainwash them, etc. It's evil. Even though some would say that you shouldn't have talked in front of the child, I'm glad you did. Maybe she'll question it as she gets older. She might be like "Let me get this straight. Mom's going to let me die because it's 'God's will'?".

I think that the problem is that the eight year old, and many like her might not realize that many of us might be very compassionate people towards women and children. I think that they believe that we're just evil. I think that they believe that we're anti-child. I can't speak for others, but I went because of all females (including children). I'm not going to watch the rug get pulled out from underneath people young enough to be my own kids.

I'm really surprised that you were able to talk to one of the counter protesters through all of that screaming. All I could do was scream something at them and hope that they heard me. I remember screaming at a lot of women who said stuff like that they regretted their abortion in their signs "Get help from a real professional, not these quacks. They're hurting you!". I don't think that they listened of course.
