Hey DU. You've always been good to me before; I hope you can help me and my group out now.
The DC Anti-War Network invites you to get on the Bus! Last year, on February 15, 2003, some 500,000 concerned Americans from New York, Washington, and throughout the country made history by converging on New York City and participating in the largest anti-war mobilization in human history. A year later, we're going back to finish what we started.
The DC Anti-War Network (DAWN), in collaboration with United for Peace and Justice (UFPJ), invites you to join us as we take a bus ride to New York City to commemorate the first anniversary of the invasion of Iraq by marching with thousands of other citizens against the occupation and urging George W. Bush to bring our troops home.
On March 20, 2003, in defiance of overwhelming global public opinion, George W. Bush ordered our forces to invade Iraq. Why? He told us that Sadaam Hussein possessed biological and chemical weapons, that he had constituted his nuclear weapons program, that his regime had ties to al-Qaida, and that we wanted to bring democracy to Iraq and the Middle East. As the first anniversary of the invasion approaches, we have found no evidence to support these reasons for Bush’s war.
And we've lost over 600 troops so far. Despite the capture of Hussein and most of his former officials, anti-American resistance continues to escalate, and our troops continue to die. Over 10,000 Iraqis have died as well.
We say enough is enough! On March 20, thousands of citizens will return to New York City to march against the occupation. To join this mobilization, DAWN is renting busses to carry DC area citizens to New York City in a convergence.
Busses will depart from Union Station at 6:00 AM on the morning of Saturday, March 20. Following the rally and march in New York City, the busses will bring us back to DC that night.
Bus tickets are $35 per person round trip, including a brown-bag lunch.
