Note from the Editor
----------------------------------------

During a 1966 speech in Cape Town, South Africa, Robert F. Kennedy told the story of an old Chinese curse which says, "May he live in interesting times."

I have no doubt that, were Kennedy were alive today, he would certainly qualify these as "interesting times" -- times that are forcing the American public to be even more vigilant and more discerning about the intentions of the Bush Administration.

But it's hard to do our part as citizens when we have the most secretive administration in recent memory and a broadcast media that seems to have forgotten their vital responsibilities as members of the fourth estate.

This is the motivation for the founding of DoYouKnow.org, a website dedicated to bringing you the stories and information you need to make knowledgeable voting decisions.

In each issue of the Do You Know Update, you'll find a small sample of the information at the DoYouKnow.org website, including recent developments and links to exclusive features and reports you won't find anywhere else.

In this premiere issue, we introduce The Project for the New American Century, a conservative policy-making organization whose members are of some of the most powerful people in the nation. Their agenda is, in the Chinese curse sense, interesting. We also bring you the administration's latest policies and practices, enlightening links, and recommended books. In every issue, we'll give you more of the information you need to successfully navigate the roads to the primaries, the caucuses, the conventions and the November voting booth.

I hope what you find here and at the site to be revealing. I hope what you find shakes you up. Most of all, I hope what you find inspires you to do everything within your power over the next 10 months to create the change our country so desperately needs.

DoYouKnow.org: Because an informed voter is a powerful voter.

Special DoYouKnow Report
----------------------------------------

"An Introduction to The Project for the New American Century"

This exclusive DoYouKnow report looks at a group whose members hold many of the highest ranking positions in the Bush Administration, including the Vice Presidency. Several of the organizations' stated objectives have already been carried out and others are currently being implemented. In 2000, the group produced a report entitled "Rebuilding America's Defenses: Strategies, Forces and Resources for a New American Century", in which they:

* Called for a permanent and substantial military force in the Middle East, as well as "forward-based units" across the globe to create what they call an "American security perimeter".

* Singled out Iran, Iraq, North Korea (members of the so-called "Axis of Evil") and Syria as potential future adversaries.

* Stated that the military's primary role today is no longer a defensive one but "is to secure and expand the 'zones of democratic peace'".

...And other doctrines.
