Hey DU'ers: The federal grand jury has postponed its patriot act investigation until next month.

For those of you interested, the National Lawyer's Guild is opposing the subpoena. Drake University should also be asked to oppose the subpoena. Call 1-800-44-DRAKE and ask for President Maxwell's office. Tell him that a university must protect its student associations and fight an intrusive government lyching of peace protesting activists.

If I were them I'd be demanding to see the evidence they have and what they are after. I would not rest until they confronted me with whatever lame-ass evidence they have...

2. That's not how I see it..

After reading the article, it looks like the government is getting cold feet. Maybe they didn't anticipate the uproar. The right wing slime like to do their work out of the view of the general public. That's why we have a VP who's never visible.

In any event, I wrote a $50 check to NLG, photostated it, wrote a letter to my local fbi office informing them that *gasp*, you have a NLG supporter right in your backyard. I then included a photostat of the check. My message was clear: If your agency's function is to intimidate, it's not working, it's backfiring.

I'll post on this board if I hear from them.

I was ready to jump in my car and drive to Des Moines tonight to join the protest.

I checked your link, and the story seems credible, but it is a common dirty trick to post bogus stories in the media canceling protests.

I may drive in anyway.

5. Story

I knew there were some of you on the way. The story says the protest is still on, but friends here on the ground say it is postponed. Just wanted to give a heads up to those traveling in tomorrow.

6. THE PROTEST IS STILL GOING TO BE HELD!

We just got off the phone with one of the subpoenaed victims, and the protest will still be held at noon on TUES the 10th at the Federal Courthouse. There will be national media present. The more people involved, the bigger message we can send to the White House.
