I just got back from a local union hall in Delaware where John Kerry was speaking. Unfortunately, I got there too late to actually get in (the place was overflowing) and had to stand around outside with the news cameras from Philadelphia and Delaware. I could see through the open doors to the place, though, and when it was quiet outside (rare) I could hear stuff. I heard him say that he had three words for Bush: "Bring it on!" (loud cheers) and something about Bush having run the most arrogant foreign policy in recorded history.
There were a few Dean supporters outside, but they just held signs (I think I like Kucinich, but I'll vote for whatever Democrat gets nominated) and didn't bother anyone. Kerry seems to be a decent speaker.
After he spoke and people cleared out, about 100 or so people mobbed him and tried to get him to sign their signs and stuff. I got up to him and shook his hand and gave him my voter registration card to sign (some other people had him sign theirs and it was about the only thing I had that he could sign). I'm not even a autograph collector or anything, but I figure it'll make a nice conversation piece in case he's the next president. He said he hoped it wouldn't invalidate it.
I wanted to check out his personality and he seemed O.K. He doesn't seem as "warm" as Bill Clinton (who I also met in Delaware), but he seems pleasant and definitely has a military persona, which is O.K.
In general: I'm still neutral but leaning toward voting for Kucinich. I'll work hard for any Democrat, though, and Kerry would be good, too.
