Fox Deliberately Displays the "F-Word" During Prime Time Football Game

It used to be that you could sit down and watch an evening football game with your children without fear of them being exposed to inappropriate material. Sadly, that's no longer the case as was proven Saturday night during the Fox broadcast of the NFL playoff game between the New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Please, think of the children!

During a cutaway shot to the stadium spectators, the camera focused directly on a woman wearing a t-shirt clearly inscribed with the words "F--k Da Eagles" (without the dashes). The shot stayed focused on the woman and her shirt for several seconds. There can be no doubt that this was an intentional airing of patently offensive language on the public airwaves, as the person wearing the profane t-shirt was culled by Fox Network's broadcast crew from more than 70,000 spectators in the stadium. The camera operator selected that particular woman and the director and/or producers of the event made an affirmative and conscious decision to air the shot from that particular camera, forcing the f-word into millions of homes. Furthermore, the v-chip would not and could not have protected children and families from the type of content evidenced here.

Fans on the East Coast saw this obscenity televised during the Family Hour (8:30 p.m. ET) -- but it aired at 5:30 in the evening on the West Coast

If you believe that a national television broadcast of a football game containing the word "F--k" is patently offensive, then we need you to take action today!! We urgently need your help to send a loud and clear message to broadcasters that their willful violation of the law will not be tolerated. Please go to https://www.parentstv.org/ptc/action/foxfootball/main.asp to file your official complaint with the FCC today.

Broadcasters are legally obligated to act in the public interest and to adhere to decency laws. Time and time again the networks have violated those laws and challenged the right of the public to hold them accountable. To add insult to injury, the Fox network has filed suit in federal court claiming it should have the right to air unlimited offensive language at any time of day - but the law does not give them that right, nor has any court granted it. The FCC should act now to protect the public airwaves from those who are abusing their privilege of using them and enforce broadcast decency law as written.

We need your help today to pressure the FCC to do its job to keep the broadcast airwaves safe for children and put Fox on notice that this flagrant abuse of the public airwaves will not be tolerated.

Please go to https://www.parentstv.org/ptc/action/foxfootball/main.asp right now to file your official complaint with the FCC then forward this message to everyone in your address book. Because our children are watching.

Sincerely,

Tim Winter
President
Parents Television Council

7. I was watching this game with my four year-old daughter when this happened.
I shouted, "Oh, Jesus fucking Christ! That bitch has the word 'Fuck' on her shirt!"

My daughter asked me, "Daddy, what does 'fuck' mean?"

And then I had to explain to her that "fuck" means to have sex with a Republican-- they lie to get into your bed, they don't have a plan once they get there, and then they leave you as a bloody, limbless corpse.

2. HOLY FUCK!!
Are we turning into another branch of FR? I'm for removing these dumb-ass speech regulations on TV. Doesn't matter if it was Fox or anyone else. No one is harmed by a fucking T-shirt.

8. If we want to get rid of these regulations, we need to USE this to death until it is intolerable.

If your Senator voted for an amendment to ban "flag desecration," would you turn him in to the cops if he left his own flag out in the rain?

I would.

If we want this to stop, we have to beat them over the head with it until they get rid of it.

10. I see your point, but what if that doesn't happen?
When speech is so severely restricted, it seldom relaxes later. I'm for letting it go and demanding the abolishment of censors entirely.

15. I'm dubious about this plan myself
What is meant to be punitive specifically to Fox will almost certainly not be seen that way by the FCC.

5. OK, so a network can rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars in
fines for less than a quarter-second of a tit during a football halftime show, but if you're FOX and you display prominently a word that is specifically prohibited from broadcast, you get a free pass (pardon the pun).

The inconsistency is expected.

6. done -
Fox manages to spread more filth than all the other networks on the air, and then
tries to cover it with propaganda on their news shows. Outrageous!

20. Done.... And I am appalled.....
My buddies and I were drinking beer and eating pizza while watching the game. When this image appeared on the screen we all yelled in shock and outrage! One of my buddies became physically ill and we had to escort him from the room.

We were so offended, we immediately turned off the game and tried to console each other. This television travesty must never be allowed to happen again. Luckily there were no children in the room, but the strippers were visibly shaken.

21. Fox broadcasts "The F Word," and suddenly a train derails in Kentucky.
Coincidence?

I think not.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster's noodly appendage is seeking vengeance.

22. I'm hoping that Fox gets the "Janet Jackson/CBS" treatment
of astonishing fines ...

But then, nudity and obscene images are barred from showing in primetime, yet all major networks put an asshole on screen with the White House's blessing ...
