Mexican Independence Day parade becomes immigration protest
<snip> But this year, protestors made the parade less about independence and more about immigration. Hundreds showed up to march.

Some groups also protested the Minuteman Project, a civilian organization whose members patrol the United States' border and report illegal immigration to authorities. <snip>

U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, was also a part of the parade down Congress to the Capitol. He avoided the Texans for Freedom crowd, but later compared the Minutemen’s efforts to the KKK at the rally.

"Some say these Minutemen are new to Texas. That's not really true. It's just that years ago they used to wear white sheets," he said. <snip>

1. I'm so conflicted about the immigration issue.
Thru my volunteer work (about 60 hrs. per month) my job and being a Latina, I just face so many dilemmas (from the health care burden to the humanity aspect of helping, to the US vs. Mexico history, to being an immigrant myself and so on) that I can't narrow my opinion on the subject. I believe, every Latino that has have any type of successful life in the US is responsible from preventing the immigrants becoming a socio-economic burden and should contribute to their local communities in any possible way to address this issue in a fair and effective manner. Then yet...

2. One part of the solution
Jail and confiscation for those who hire illegals. Forget intradiction, get the people who are profiting from this

3. I know this is horrible to say. One of my friends recommended
to require anyone that wants to come in illigally to make a living put two-three years in National Guard service prior to applying for any status...He said this way they get money for their families while legally serving each state doing some good...

What do you think?

4. I think it is an idea that can be worked with
I think there is some of that going on already. But yeah, better than what they are doing now; ie: nothing. The people that benefit from their(undocs.) low wages must be stopped.
