I've been published too recently in all of the papers in my area...but of course I'm not done talking yet. Would anyone like to adapt this for submission?
Thursday, July 14, 2005, Senate Republicans blocked a bid to revoke Karl Rove’s security clearance demonstrating their brand of patriotism does not include protecting national security, but is restricted to preventing flag burning and sporting “Support the Troop” stickers on their cars.
Federal grand jury testimony provides compelling evidence of Rove’s complicity in revealing the identity of a covert CIA operative despite easily refuttable GOP talking points to the contrary.
Some may wonder why this is a big deal. Valerie Plame worked undercover on National Security Intelligence in the area of enemy proliferation of WMD. Karl Rove compromised our defense capabilities when he exposed her AND her 20 year network of assets. In a time of war no less!
Senate Republicans are now guilty of not only acquiescing to this war based on deliberate misinformation, they are guilty of aiding and abetting a traitor to the country they were elected to represent. Their disdain for America was compounded by the attempt to revoke Senator Reid’s security clearance as political retaliation. When will our elected officials represent our nation’s best interests rather than their political party?
As is, it's 185 words.
