Went to my 1st Dean Meetup in Utica, NY, tonight!
It was so Neat to be around Live Fellow Dean Supporters! I wore my Dean tank top that says .."I Want My Count Back" on the front and on the back "Howard Dean for President"

I met a fellow DUer there who had on his democraticunderground.com Tee on!
He told me his user name and I recognized it when he said "Why?" but mine didn't ring any bells for him!

And speaking of questions... I had my "question mark buttons" on and told everyone about bush hijacking the media so we have hijacked the question mark and go to http://www.questionw.com and they all took down the web address. Yes!

I met a lot of really interesting People! There was a Dr Lowenstein there who went to Medical School with Dean and he brought their 1978 album so we could see Dean's picture as a young medical student.

The organizer of the meetup was the same one who organized the Baseball Hall of Fame protest that I went to in April so I had met a few of the People before; so it was nice to see them again and meet some fresh blood!

There were two African American People there and just a huge diversity across the representative spectrum. I sat next to a man from Utica who has a show at the local TV station.

And we all got our letter material to write the folks in New Hampshire and tell them why we would hope they would vote for Dean in the Primary! I'm feeling the Grass Roots, Guys!

We also talked about how to get out the voter registration for the New York primary! Looks like I'll be going door to door in the inner city for that! I'm there! :-)

Also, how do we tap into the community that is not internet savvy, i.e. Senior Citizens and Minority Communities? Deliver Flyers!

So now I'm part of the 75,000 or so People registered for the Dean Meetups! :D

Here are some excellent resources and timelines of quotes and interviews and newspaper article quotes documenting the different things Bush and Co did and said for the last two plus years concerning the war in Iraq and WMDs (and other fun things) from the Howard Dean Website---even if you're not a Dean Fan, these are still excellent resources:

3. In Maryland and California
there are senior centers where many seniors congregate. I assume that other states also have senior centers.

Find out if the senior center near you has a policy of sponsoring political speakers near election time. If so, find a speaker knowledgeable about issues that interest seniors, especially social security, medicare, and prescription drug coverage. Also find someone who can explain the difference between true homeland security and fake homeland security.

A lot of seniors do have email. Would it be possible for people at a meetup to come up with a short clever message relevant to seniors and then send the message to their senior citizen family members?

4. Thank you for the suggestions!
That's one reason I post this was to get some feedback from Duers!

We are trying to get the ones who don't have computers and we would like to reach and tell them about Dean! :-) And we talked about "Senior Centers". I can't wait to go out into the field! :kick:

6. We did, Annabel! And I was just sitting there amazed that I was actually
at one! It was held in the lobby of an old Hotel that had been remodeled and had plenty of hanging chandeliers and stained glass lamp shades..pretty swanky! And there we all were ...thinking of ways to get the word out on Dean to all those who hadn't heard yet. :hi:
