How you can help single mothers on election day

There will be long lines and single mothers will have childcare responsibilities such as picking their kids up at school. Here are some ideas for you to help these women stay in line:

1. Bring a cell phone and let the mother use it to make babysitting arrangements or to have a late pickup at school
2. Help moms with little children - hold her place in line while she takes a child to the restroom
3. Bring water and juice in boxes for the kids.
4. Offer to run a errand while she is in line.
5. Help entertain the kids, e.g. musicians with children songs, bring bomb box with children's song


You can probably think of even better things to do to help. Please do it! We can all make a difference Tuesday!

1. You could babysit the little ones at no charge.

My kids are now grown and have kids of their own, but I still remember how much of a pain it was to take them anywhere that required waiting for even a little while!

I never had to wait an hour in a voting line when they were little, but if it had been a potential problem, believe me, I would have found a way not to take them along with me!

If you set up a "free baby sitting area with toys and things to keep them entertained, it would be by far the biggest help to the parents.
