Suggestion for NYC protestors

If you encounter the NYPD, remind them of exactly why you are protesting - unions, that * pissed on them for his political benefit, that he allowed them (and many NYCers) to continue to live and work in air that was hazardous, that he won't adequately fund first responders, etc.

Be polite, be non-violent, but remind them that you are there not only for yourself, but for them as well.

2. Support the NYPD and FDNY in contract negotiations

Bring signs supporting NYPD and FDNY (Fire Department).

Their lives have been disrupted by Bush using the town for his slimy purposes. They will be spending overtime away from their families. They have been training. They aren't happy being put between the Bush machine and the citizens / protestors. Many, maybe most, are against Bush politically.

Chant "Cut Bush's pay, not NYPD".

Security is costing NY $75 million. The Feds (Bush) are putting in only $50 million. The city hopes that the visitors will spend enough to make the difference, but many people are leaving the city for the week, so it could be a net loss.
