Chocolate and cherries. I'd prefer a little molten chocolate cake, myself.

9. generally prefer home made
made a killer peach blueberry from scratch for 4th of July, but taste in pie is very idiosyncratic. Peach pie=good. BTW Schwarzwaldkirschtorte is Black Forest Cherry Cake, if I recall correctly. But it isn't pie!

14. OK, i'm going to admit
right here, right now that i make cheesecakes only....why? I am afraid of pie crust. My 3 adventures into pie crust land deemed me a total failure, i cant touch it. Someday i hope to overcome this because homemade always tastes so much better.

8. Buy Cleaning Products at Costco
Please support your union brothers and sisters trying to make a living wage at your local union grocery store. Support your union bothers and sisters in the bakery department at your local grocery store.

Unless the Costco you patronize is union, I would encourage you to just buy paper products, cleaning products, and the like there.

13. Union is good.
The only problem is...there isn't a Union grocery store within 100 miles of where I live.

Ahh, yes, Texas. What can I say?

24. Costco gives 100% of donations to Dems
and the average salary for a Costco worker is $40,000 a year. They also get great benefits, despite stockholder grumblings. The CEO said he'd rather serve customers and his employees well than make .25 more per share (he also takes one of the smallest CEO salaries around). So I say, go ahead! You can have your Costco cake and eat it too!

12. Costco's pies are wonderful!
Peach is good...the berry pie is really nice, too!

But I guess my favorite is home made German Chocolate cake, with the pecan frosting all over it instead of just on top!

15. As much as I love peach pie, it's a toss up
with my home made blackberry cobbler. Never could decide which was better. My brother says nothing beats my chocolate pie though.

Anybody like hot apple pie topped with cheddar? That's a close second.

21. Ach. You must try this:
Choose your favorite chocolate ice cream. Mine's Breyers. Cover it with sliced peeled peaches. (Believe it or not, canned are okay for this too.) Consume.

Heaven in a bowl. It'll give you such a TBO that you'll wake up the next morning w/ your genitals buzzing. Trust me. :9

32. Groundcherries,
also known as husk tomatoes to some, are the size of small marbles and tan in color when ripe. They make the best pie in this world.

GROUND CHERRY PIE

Ground cherries, also known as husk tomatoes, produce tiny tomato-like fruits in papery husks on low, lanky bushes. This is an old Mennonite recipe with a crumb topping.

2 1/2 cups pitted ground cherries
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon water
1 (9-inch) pie shell
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons butter

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

Wash ground cherries and place in unbaked pie shell.

Mix brown sugar and 1 tablespoon flour and sprinkle over cherries. Sprinkle water over top.

Mix together the 3 tablespoons flour and 3 tablespoons sugar. Cut butter in until crumbly. Top cherry mixture with crumbs.

Bake for 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 375 degrees F and continue to bake for 25 minutes.
