My dinner, or what not to eat on the atkins diet
Had dinner with the folks today, it being my mommie's birthday and all. I didn't think about it at the time, but it was freaking loaded with carbs.

My dinner consisted of:
Fried Chicken
a baked potato with 3 cheeses, bacon, sour cream and chives
Potatos au gratin
a bit of mashed potatos
a huge honkin Kaiser Roll
and a nice Ceaser Salad
Followed up with a slab of cake (slice wouldn't do the size of the piece justice)

In case you are wondering, the variety of potatos was my dad's idea, he figured that everybody would get the potatos their favorite way. I happen to like all 3 ways, so I pigged out a bit. My question is, how much carbs do I ingest a little while ago for someone on the Atkins diet. A few days, a weeks, or a months? Keep in mind, the helpings were generous.

2. Carbohydrates are the base of my diet
And I've been lean and mean for as long as I can remember. Small portions wiht healthy ingredients and an active lifestyle are all it takes.

8. Every body is different.
I ate a very low-fat, high-carb diet for the better part of a year, walked two to four miles a day, and lost 2 pounds.

I've been eating the high-fat, low-carb Atkins diet for 9 weeks, walking two to four miles a day, and I've lost 39 pounds.

Low-carb isn't for everyone, but for some of us, it works, and works really well. My bloodwork is terrific and I feel better than I have in YEARS.

3. Be careful with that Atkins diet
Cats do well with high protein diets, but human kidneys (and canine's also) are not suited for it.

Enjoy the carbs and your memory of a good dinner!
No need for guilt! Although I would have traded the slice of cake for a couple glasses of red wine...

cheers!

5. Did the cake have buttercream frosting? What flavor?
Living vicariously requires details.

7. Nah, the frosting was the regular frosting
Nothing special, this was my dad we're talking about, he bought the cake. My mom on the other hand makes some killer frosting that is so creamy, and not disgustingly sweet like most store bought cakes.

The cake was decent, better than average. The fried chicken was to die for though.

6. Agreed on high protein diet comments, but also consider
That broccoli and cauliflower are acceptable vegetables to eat while on this diet. And they are scrummy too! :9
