The Oogum Boogum Song: it was the 60s, I was hallucinating, right?
What in hell was this guy thinking? What in hell was America thinking making it a top 40 hit in 1967? (I was 5, so I'm pretty sure I wasn't actually hallucinating.) This little love got stuck in my head the other day, inspiring the questions above. Partial lyrics are at the link below, for those fortunate enough to have missed it:

Pleeeeeeeease nobody say you played this at your wedding or bar mitzvah or something! :)

..this page says you can download it for free. Haven't tried it, though. The page requires payment for most songs.

<Edit> Don't try it. It asks you to download specific software before you can download.

2. Look at the lyrics and imagine a REALLY high voice and a pretty good
approximation of the Motown sound. It's insanely catchy; I was just kidding about not understanding why it was a hit.

3. Ah, the great Brenton Wood

who followed it up with an even bigger smash, "Gimme Little Sign" in the autumn of 1967. He had several other swell tunes, like "Lovey Dovey Kinda Lovin'", "It's Just a Game", "Best Thing That I Ever Had", and "Baby You Got It", which was ripped off and turned into "Be Thankful For What You Got" a few years later by William DeVaughn.:bounce:

Yes, I know I need help.

4. It was a big hit where I lived
and so was Brenton Wood's other big song, Gimme Some Kind of Sign, similar in style and tone to Ooogum Boogum
