MLB Pennant Races 2004
Edited on Sat Apr-10-04 10:11 AM by ih8thegop
AL

East: Alas, Steinbrenner's money machine can't help the Yankees. Fear not: New York Media Machine to the rescue!

Central: Based on our exit polls, with 3% of the season completed, we are ready to make this projection.

AL Central Division
Projected Champions

DETROIT TIGERS

West: Anaheim and Oakland are tied. Ties are rare at this point in the season. Meanwhile, the Mariners are taking the Tigers' place this season.

Wild Card: Anaheim and Oakland tie for the second-best record in the AL. (Guess who has the best?) At this stage, it looks as if whomever doesn't win the West would have an edge on the Wild Card.

NL

East: Atlanta's dynasty is under attack! Maybe it's because the owner of the Braves also owns the Cable News Network??????????

Central: The Reds look real, despite the fact that they are located in the same state as Ohio State University.

West: Dodgers have the lead, and considering they're a big media market, I say they're gonna win.

Wild Card: The Brewers have a .600 record. George Bamberger's spirit is helping them, IMO.

1. as a long suffering dodger fan,
I must inform you that although they are a major market team, they were sold to an owner who has no money, hence function like a small market team.

It's pathetic. They will develop some weakeness this year and be unable to address it due to McCourts inability to add salary

2. dodgers?! sorry.. they haven't done jack krap since gibson..
hit that homer in '88. I live in Padre country, and listen to a lot of sports talk on the AM. People in LA aren't expecting much this year. I would say the NL West is wide open.
