Overall, 53 percent of the people interviewed for the poll said they would vote for Herseth, and 37 percent said they would vote for Republican Larry Diedrich. Libertarian candidate Terry Begay garnered 2 percent support, and 8 percent said they were not sure who they would vote for.

About 30 percent of the Republicans who were interviewed said they would vote for Herseth, despite her Democratic alignment.
