2. I would usually not say go wings...
But the last thing I want is a team from Tennesee doing well.

10. That still doesn't make them a real hockey team

The Predators actually have a "Predators University" section on their website, so the freshly minted fans* don't think a "blue line" is five cop cars pulling into the drive-thru at Krispy Kreme. :-)

http://www.nashvillepredators.com/learn/

The Rink
The official NHL rinks spans 200 feet long and 85 feet wide.

The rink is divided into three parts by blue lines that are one foot in width. Each blue line is 60 feet from the goal line. The division in which the goal is located is called the Defending Zone, while the opposite goal in located in the attacking zone. The part of the rink between the blue lines is the neutral zone. The goal lines are 13 feet from the end of the rink.

The center line divides the rink in half, and must be one foot in width and red in color. However, the design in the middle of the line is variable...only the outside edges must be continuous red.

I don't think even the Mighty Ducks have anything quite like this. Couldn't the city of Nashville have put in a few years in the AHL (or old IHL) before going to The Show?

Edit: Remember in "Slap Shot" when the owner was going to move the Chiefs to Florida? We all got a hearty laugh out of that one, back then... And when I put this edit in the wrong place??

11. Owwwww
I shoulda kept my mouth shut. Within 10 minutes of the above post, RW (hmmmmm) scored.

There was an IHL (or one of the farmish leagues) before the Preds came in. They were godawful.

As for the website - you're just jealous. Oh, yeah.

12. Far as I know ...

... almost every team has stuff like that on their website, to encourage new fans to learn about the game. The only way to guarantee a team will stay, is to have Fans in the Stands.

We have that problem here in Indy ~ a CHL team that does a decent marketing job in a basketball state ~ most of the self-appointed 'true hockey fans' :eyes: are hostile to any newbies who don't bleed purple and black. They deride them for asking questions and second-guess opinions and comments they make on the message board. Thus, the season ticket holder base is incredibly small and the team is on shaky ground.

I say, the more information, the better :).

3. Well, *I* have the hockey package, so I get all the games!! Yay!
I must say, I cannot root for a Marc Crawford-coached team. Nor can I root for the Nordilanche. Why --- I must be a Red Wings fan!

GO WINGS!!!

Hi, Hippiechick! I'm in Seattle and go up to Vancouver pretty frequently to see the Wings. I didn't go this year, which is just as well, 'cos when they started injuring my team, I might have gone nuts in the stands and punched someone in the nose.

8. Gotta root for Calgary
Since I'm an Avs fan. Although I have to admit Avs/Canucks would be a great series. Just a tiny bit of rivalry there. :D
