Is there someone you keep meaning to call or have lunch with, but never do? Somebody who seems to have drifted away from everybody lately? Someone you figure has probably just been "really busy" or something?

Please call that person. Right now.

Don't take for granted that everybody is just OK. Some of them aren't.

2. Oh man, so sorry LuckyTheDog.
Kid in my writing class just wrote a story about not contacting a friend who committed suicide. So damn sad that people hurt that much.

Is there someone you can go with? That might make it easier...

It will be hard, but you are stronger than you know...

Remember that you love her, and this love will help...

16. I could take my wife with me if someone can watch the kid
My son (he's 10) actually met this friend several times. He has not seen her for a while, but would remember her for sure. And for now, I don't want him to know any of this. Eventually, I probably will let him know that she died -- but not HOW she died. Not till he is older.

8. I'm sorry, Honey. What a sad thing for you to go through.
And I'm so sorry for your friend. I wish she'd been able to reach out. It's that way sometimes, and it hurts to be left wondering. Take care of yourself.

What a punch in the gut, I am so, so sorry for your sudden loss.

Your point is well taken. A lot of people who are in deep pain know very well how to "put a game face on," they can fool a lot of people. They do it because they don't want to be a burden or bring others down. Sometimes they just break and can't do it anymore.

11. Actually I do, a friend of nearly 40 years, and I'm really worried about him since he lost his job
last summer. I'll call him tomorrow. Thanks for the light kick in the ass.

I'm very, very sorry for your loss.

15. Sorry to hear about this. I just posted the other night about a friend of mine
that I had been looking for, was one of my best friends when I was in CA.

Been looking for him off and on over the years, lost touch.

Found out he finally retired, moved back to Ohio, and someone broke in, shot him in the head, and burned his house down.

We never got to meet up here (when I told him I was moving back to Ohio we promised to hook up when he moved back here).

Hugs to you and thanks for posting.

19. so sorry Lucky.
had a similar experience nearly 40 years ago.
had seen him the day before - had dinner - he'd just gotten engaged.
driving to work the next day the local news read the story of his suicide.

who knows why people do what they do?
be strong.
