4. geeez....he's clammed up like a soup can hot off the press at the Campbell's factory....
but SHE's the jerk for worrying????????

Couldn't he have just SAID what was on his mind? Couldn't HE be a jerk for avoiding giving an HONEST ANSWER to a SIMPLE QUESTION??????????

SHEESH, anyone would get ferklempt if they asked if anything was wrong and all they got was "it's nothing" and then continued SILENCE!!! Just a simple, "I'm bugged over my bike" could have made for a pleasant evening for all, rather than an evening of frustration, misunderstanding and self-doubt!!!!!

(Yep, I admit it, this is a sore spot for me. I could go into details, but I'll spare everyone! :P )

5. If he said what was on his mind...
... she might say something like, "You and that %$##^%$*%*^motorcycle!!! If you paid half as much attention to ME..."

10. she might...or she might not.
He'll never know until he tries COMMUNICATING.

He may even truly need to look honestly at his part in the equation--maybe he really does spend an unreasonable amount of time on his motorcycle.

Anyway, as the stereotype goes, {which many people accept without question}, SHE is expected to do ALL the relationship heavy-work (ie reading his mind, doing all the compromising while he does none, doing all the capitulating to his need to stifle feelings, while he does none or even mocks her need to express thoughts/feelings).

This illustration reinforces that unproductive mindset.

8. I can't speak for the women's side of things...
...but I think this is exactly how men are!

Oh, god, if women only knew the random thoughts and idle questions and stupid puzzles that can run in circles in our brains for hours or days or weeks on end.

You have no idea.

I work on two stories occasionally, one about zombies and one about colonizing a planet, and I have scenes and questions and scenarios and chapters just working through my mind all the time.
