I wake up in the middle of the night becase of pain. I find myself
doing stretching exercises and I just can't sleep because of it. Then I get up and fall asleep at the computer.

Not looking for any medical advise just wanted to bitch. I do take narcotic pain killers but I don't want to take too many when I am going to bed.

1. That's definitely a "talk to your doctor" thing.
I take oxycodone and while that does squash the pain, it doesn't always allow me to sleep. He gave me 1mg Lorazapam (a benzodiazapine) and that shit knocks me out - I usually only take half of one.

Not medical advice, mind you, but your doctor should be able to recommend something that will knock you out if you need that.

2. I've realized that I sleep sitting up better than laying down. How
else can I explain getting out of bed because I can't sleep and putting the computer on my lap on the couch and falling asleep? I wonder if I should invest in one of those message chairs. Either way I am going to tell the doctor about it. This just sucks.

3. Are you allergic to cats?
I have one of those "massage chairs" (I'll assume you didn't mean "message") and it really isn't all that comfortable unless you are TRYING to stay awake and do something. It even has a place to park a beer can in the arm rest!!! A cat on your lap would probably be a lot warmer and seriously more cuddly. My big guy is 14 and you can make him purr just by looking at him. He's too big for my lap but he loves to cuddle into me when I'm in bed. I swear he doesn't stops purring for days on end.

5. That sounds
Miserable. I deal with chronic pain, too. I can't sleep on hydrocodone, It's my default day med. I've been on lyrica for years and the night dose puts me to sleep. But lately I've had some crushing episodes where I woke up every time I turned over. Redstone was my pain pal. I'll miss him.
