Catch the Wind - Donovan
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8ybDbcrWVM

In the chilly hours and minutes
Of uncertainty
I want to be
In the warm hold of your loving mind.
To feel you all around me
And to take your hand
Along the sand
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.
When sundown pales the sky
I wanna hide a while
Behind your smile
And everywhere I'd look, your eyes I'd find.
For me to love you now
Would be the sweetest thing,
T'would make me sing
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.
Dee dee da da la da da da da da da da da, da da, da da
When rain has hung the leaves with tears
I want you near
To kill my fears
To help me to leave all my blues behind.
For standing in your heart
Is where I wanna be
And I long to be,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind

3. The very first time I heard this song, I thought it was Bob Dylan.
It didn't have Dylan's often astonishing poetry, and it was very sweet and tender. Donovan's voice was very similar, though.

Anaheim Convention Center in '68 just after "Hey Jude" came out. He proclaimed that he "loved it" and lead the audience in singing the chorus. I snuck in a small tape recorder and must have played that segment back a hundred times before the tape broke. Good memories!!

Another Donovan memory.....

Back in '67 someone painted a very colorful "electrical banana" over the door to my high school cafeteria. It was awesome and well done. The admins. frowned on it, however, and it was painted over before the end of the day. Today, thanks to cell phone cameras, it would appear online instantly and be preserved for posterity.
