OK, Walking Dead fans... ****(POTENTIAL SPOILERS)******
Not sure if I'm going to be able to watch -- for a variety of reasons (husband hates the show; I'm terrified of zombies).

But I caught a lot of it last week, especially the devastating last scene.

Anyone care to give me a show rundown during or after tonight's episode?

:hi: Thanks!

1. During last week's season premire...
they were in that small church, praying to god. What I don't understand is why were they praying AFTER the zombie apocalypse already started? Hasn't god pretty much given up on them already?

Looking forward to tonight's episode!

2. The best part of that
was that some Zombies were sitting in the church praying or something like that. I am wondering if they are going to give the zombies some type of memory. Like why they travel in herds, why they go to places familiar to them (like the church).

5. Remember season 1, that (now zombie)woman would try to open her own door every night
wigging out her husband and son?

They have some memories it seems like. Or else how could they open doors?

(And those of you who read the comic books can just shut up now and not tell me how I am wrong)

7. Diverting from the comic book?
HBO often diverts from fictional source material in significant ways. It would not surprise me at all for HBO to change direction significantly, especially after letting the lead creative writer/producer go.

4. Rundown - spoilers
The person (named Otis) who shot the deer & Carl didn't know Carl was there, but he came from a nearby farm and told them a man named Hershel there could help them. So, Rick carries Carl to the farm and Hershel (an older man) offers to help the best he can - he seems to have some medical ability. He says Carl is alive because the bullet was slowed by the deer, but also the bullet was broken up in Carl's body into 6 pieces. Hershel's daughter then goes to get Lori. Shane stays with Rick in case they need to hold Carl down during surgery.

Hershel is able to get one bullet fragment out and was able to do a blood transfusion from Rick to Carl thank to both of them being A+

The rest of the group continues looking for Sophia and then get concerned when Rick/Carl/Shane don't show up. They hear the gunshot, but debate its meaning.

Back on the highway, T-Dogg is coming down with an infection from his cut last week and is now running a fever. He complains to Dale that they left the two weakest people behind (the old man and the untrustworthy black guy)

The search group heads back to the highway when Andrea is slightly separated from the group and is attacked by a wandering walker... when in comes Hershel's daughter on a horse, who slams the walker in the head with an axe or hammer or something. She then tells the group that Carl has been shot and that Rick needed Lori... the remainder of the group go back to the highway and then debate if they should stay & wait for Sophia or leave right now to go to the farm. The decide to wait the night and then leave a sign for Sophia.

When Lori gets to the farm, Hershel informs the group that Carl has internal bleeding and he'll need a ventilator and some other medical supplies, or else he'll die. 5 miles away, the old high school was a temporary FEMA shelter until it was overrun. Shane & Otis volunteer to go, since Rick is much too weak from doing now two blood transfusions for Carl. The place is still overrun with walkers. Shane takes from flares from the trunk of a police car and tosses them to one side of the parking lot. Otis & Shane use the distraction to enter the FEMA trailer and find what they need. However, when they get out of the trailer, the walkers are no longer distracted and see the two of them. Cut off, they take off and then move to enter the school late at night by shooting a glass door open. Rick & Otis stumble in pull the security screen across the shattered door just in time. However, the walkers pour onto the screen and it's apparent, as the episode is ending, that the screen will only last a few seconds more.

6. What about the opening scene? Doesn't that blow some of
the tension of Rick and Otis behind the security screen?

8. thanks very much, I appreciate the recap!
I caught most of it, flipping away when scary monsters appeared. Hubby had work to do so I had control of the remote, mostly :)

Wish the storyline had moved along a little more, though - I hope the episodes resolve the Sophia / Carl issues, soon, though, and don't drag these stories along the whole season.
