1. No, but I've always wanted one
I had to settle for a Ringworld and, frankly, it's a little disappointing even if it is a step up from the Halo I had when I was younger.

2. Is that the vaccum?
I was at Costco today and was looking at them but I can't get past the concept of bagless. The whole point of a vacuum is to contain all the dust, and with bagless, the minute you open it up to empty it, whooosh, all that dust goes right back where it came from. Plus, I imagine over time that see-through cannister becomes really gross.

I'd like to hear from people who have this and why they think it is so great.

3. Well, I don't have a Dyson.
But bagless is the way to go. Bags are not exactly cheap for most models, and you therefore tend to retain them even if they are smelly, because they're not completely full. At least we always did - fill the bag before you empty it. As a result, the air coming out of the vacuum tended to be less than fresh towards the end of a bag's life.

I love my bagless models. There isn't any major problem with dust flying about, just remove the collection chamber carefully, and empty it into the trash reasonably carefully as well.

4. No...
It looks a little like this, only it's hollow inside, much bigger (can house the entire inner solar system), and doesn't come with the big death ray thingie on the front (I tried to get it as an option, but they retired it the year after the whole Alderaan incident, something about liability, yada yada yada).

Here's a picture of the inside, very similar, only with bigger oceanic areas. I've always had a thing for water features, they give a very organic feel. Oh, for a size reference, that thing by the access port is a Galaxy-class Federation Starship.

It's somewhere in the Typhon expanse, but I left for vacation on Santraginus IV to get some of that great Santraginian spring water from the source and do the whole spa thing, and dopey me, forgot to leave the navigation beacons on when I left. I wrote down the coordinates, but I left them on the kitchen table, and I think I left the stove on to boot. I mean really, it is in big letters on page one of the user's manual, LEAVE NAV BEACONS ON FOR EASY LOCATION WHEN OUTSIDE OF THE SPHERE. Well, long story short, I spent over a year exploring the area and was never able to find it again. All I can remember is Alpha Quadrant, Sector 323, but not the spatial references within the sector.

Anyway, I've given up looking and have decided to shop around for a replacement. I'm just looking around to see if anyone has one they've bored of that I can pick up cheap.

6. Have an old Dyson, too heavy, Would never buy another unless
I was sure I could lift the damn thing, do the stairs without lugging the whole thing, get under the beds etc. Also, I would like the head to rotate-I guess the word is swivel.
The bag-less is fine. I just release the contents into my rubbish barrel. That part Is OK with my current DC14. I am also wondering about the newly advertised Shark model.

Who knows, we are all victims of the best advertising.

13. It's so open...
I've always preferred the near complete privacy that Dyson spheres afford. Besides, look at all of that precious energy leaking out the sides... you think white dwarf stars just grow on trees... ok... so they are rather common, but still.

Actually, I super-sized mine and put it around the whole galaxy. So you're using it right, too. So no littering.
