2. None.
It was 99 degrees here again. I suppose the shorter days are a sign, but that's it. There are brown leaves on the ground, but we're in a severe drought. Wish we had the "too cold" problem here.

as teh temperature drops sharply at night. Plus there seems to be some weather moving in off the Pacific. It feels like summer is over.

And, I harvested the last of my sweet corn Saturday and put it in the freezer. That always makes me feel like the party is over.

13. The maples and birches are turning already.
Seriously thinking about plugging in the heated mattress pad.

Digging out the winter clothes.

Looks like the hummingbirds are packing their bags.

The only flowers left are a few cone flowers, wild asters and the phlox.

21. I need to figure out how to keep mine.
I planted some trees about 6-8 years ago. They have had a small handfull the past 2 years, but the squirrels take them before they fall from the husks. This year, there look to be enough that I'd get several pounds of nuts -- the trees are now about 8-10 feet tall, I'd say.

How, though, am I going to keep the squirrels away?

22. leaves changing color
Our neighbor's silver maple has orange leaves near the top. Of course the stores near me already have their Halloween candy display up and some Thanksgiving decorations up too. When I was a kid that didn't happen until late September early October. Then again the Hallmark store had Christmas ornaments up in late July. What the hell is the rush?
