"Paying it forward"...What should I do??
I was doing some minor cleanup in the yard today after the storm, reaching up to chop off a couple of huge limbs with tools ill-designed for that purpose (a rusty handsaw and a dull pickaxe)...

A guy drives up in a pickup telling me he'd chainsaw it off the tree and into small pieces for pickup FOR FREE...I thought it was a scam at first, and almost told him to get lost but he insisted, and in short time made quick work of the job. I kept on expecting some kind of catch or hook, but he said he was doing a public service and just to pay it forward...

To show gratitude, I gave him all the cash I had on me ($26) and a case of water...The guy literally saved my mother and I hundreds of dollars out of the goodness of his heart (the last cleanup for a downed tree cost $450). Something like this deserves a little better than my usual random kind gestures...Any suggestions?

1. Do it the same way.
You see someone you can help with whatever skill you have, then do it. We in Joplin has learn that that is the best you can do. You would be surprise what that can do for someone in trouble!

3. Still bad.
We have had alot of volunteer help, and I thank all of you that has. However, due to some things that have been going on, many people that need help are not getting it. is worse We has a big problem with unemployment as well as homelessness before the tornado, now it is worse. There are people coming in and being brought in to work most of the jobs that there are for the rebuilding so very few Joplin residents are getting those jobs. We need some oversight in here bad, real bad.

4. You will know it when it happens.
I don't think it has to be planned. But, when you see someone that needs help, and you can help, you will know that is your moment to pay it forward.
