So, the farmer across the road has a logging crew in to select cut
that 14 acres. I talked to the manager of the crew and he is going to give me an estimate on my property. This was Friday. Cool. I need to get rid of some of these scrub pines and poplars and make some money to boot. Saturday the pump on my well goes out. ~sigh~

I will be lucky if I come out even.

fuck.fuck.fuckity.fuck.

Damn, that sucks.

I have no suggestions, unfortunately...

2. The bad news is that the profits from your trees'll be eaten up.
.
.
.
The GOOD news is that the profit came along JUST in time to pay for your pump work/replacement.
.
.
.
Things coulda been worse.
.
.
.
Though I understand a little extra financial cushion is ALWAYS welcome.

4. I should be happy
the pump has lasted 20 years . . .this new one is only guaranteed for 9. So, I got my money's worth out of the old one alright.

but, yeah.

bottle of piss, sure enough. I am happy it is only half full of the stuff :D

:hi:

5. What kind of pump?
How deep is your well? Rating? OMFG we just replaced a secondary pump (that pumps 6 miles, and 600 feet in elevation) bought the original more tjan 15 years ago for about 20% of what is was now.
OUCH

did the well pump last year, 550 feet, pumps about 11 gal/min.

what do you mean: rating -- gal/min ? you mean ratio? I don't know what my gal/min is right now. I will let you know what I get when the new pump is put in. I may have to hang on for about 3 weeks..The logging company has to finish my neighbor's job first.

right now I am getting a trickle out of my spigots. well, more than a trickle but, not the kind of pressure I want.

my shower

I love my showers.

6. You would be well advised to get two or more estimates. Those guys
will low-ball you if they can get away with it. If they feel they're in competition for the trees, they are likely to bid higher.

8. I have used this guy for a long time over the years with a myriad
of water issues. I trust him. but, yeah before I found him I would have gotten 2-3 estimates.

This guy may actually do the work and then wait for my logging check to cash...not every business can do that.

9. My well pump went out today. I am pissed as it's less than 8 years old.
On a large livestock operation, it's crazy shit to NOT have water. Luckily my neighbor's farm used to be part of our farm. When we bought our farm, it was a parcel that was split off from the owners we purchased it from. Initially we still all used the same well (ours) but 5 years ago they put in their own well with it's own pump but we left the line open that still attaches both of our properties. They simply opened their valve this am, and voila! I still have water.

The well gurus get here at 8 am (they've been given the heads up so they had today to go fishing). I am soooo lucky. Hopefully someday in the future I can save their butts when their well pump goes out....

10. gosh, sorry to hear it. real bummer. I am thankful that right now
I don't have any livestock on my property. My garden is done for the season and my flower beds can limp along with the little rainfall I have been lucky enough to get this year.

thank goodness for good neighbors :)

I have to call back the plumber and tell him it will be at least 3 weeks until I can pay him. I don't know if he can carry me that long and I hope that if need be I can limp along with this trickle until then.
