2. Lots of boaters have cats.

Not all cats hate being around (if not in) water. The marina we sailed out of when I was a kid had a cat who just hung around the docks and would sometimes jump right onto people's boats and go sailing with them.

that have boat cats, and few that have boat dogs (one had even invented a "dog elevator" for getting his from the boat to the dingy).
