Bourdain: Paula Deen most dangerous person in America
http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/morning_call/2011/08/boudain-paul-deen-is-most-dangerous.html

Anthony Bourdain, the outspoken host of Travel Channel ’s “No Reservations,” is known for trash talking Food Network personalities, but he saved his harshest words for Georgia’s own Paul Deen in a TV Guide interview. Bourdain said Deen “revels in her unholy connections with evil corporations,” and "is proud of the fact her food is bad for you.”

1. Couldn't care less about Deen. That said, Bourdain is an asshole. He talks shit about people he has
never met, then kisses their ass when he does. Examples are Emeril and Bobby Flay both of of whom are far superior chefs. I have never been disappointed at one of Flay's or Emeril's restaurant but Les Halles in New York was a disaster. The food was poorly prepared and one of the dishes was inedible. Our waiter spent the better part of our visit bitching to the table behind ours about how poorly he was treated by management.

Screw Anthony.

2. Not surprised that she talked to the NY Post and Fox snooze.
I can't stand TV chefs in general. Bourdain, Deen, Fieri, Flay, De Laurentis are all assholes IMO.

3. Bourdain has become a caricature of himself
over the last couple of years. I used to watch him regularly. Not so much anymore. Andrew Zimmern's show is definitely more interesting and much less snarky.

4. as a pro cook i am divided
bourdains writing has put into words things i could not and has allowed me to open my world to outsiders
i know its hard to believe but if you are a lifer in the food buisness you are not like other people. we have our own traditions and history and we have our own ways of what is right and many times those outside dont understand our mind.i sometimes see us as 21st century gypsies living behind everything else involved but not involved. i had great difficulty reconciling this with people in my life but after giving them kitchen confidential to read they had a better grasp of what they had gotten themselves into. bourdain has made my life better.

as to ms deen i have eaten at her place in savannah and it was awesome. i am a southern boy at heart so her take on basic regional foods rings sweetly on my tongue.and she looks like a grandmother is supposed to look like.her recipes when i work them always come out and always get raves.

i am conflicted but i have to come down with paula on this whole thing
tony has a stick in his ass because he has become a travel show and i dont even know when he last stepped into a kitchen

every time i have seen paula she has been in a kitchen on tv or in savannah
tony... get thee to a bakery

5. Personally, I love to watch Paula Deen's show.
But there is no way I could ever eat any of her recipes. Her cholestrol count must be through the roof.

6. I have sampled one Deen recipe.
My Mom made her biscuit recipe. I made it halfway through on biscuit before I had to stop -- it was so rich with butter/cream that I couldn't finish it. That thing sat on my stomach for hours afterwards. :puke:

7. Oh for Chrissake. Bourdain can bite me.All things in moderation and have a ball.
Life's too short to think or talk in absolutes. If I ate what Paula Deen showcases every day I'd be the fattest corpse in the cemetery. But HO my God is it delicious, and tastes like home on steroids. So eat it sometimes. As for Bourdain, he's proud of eating things most people wouldn't and is inquisitive and I learn a lot, and if he cooked he would probably still be a good one. But he's SUCH a jerk.

Of course the skeptic in me wonders if he didn't buzz Paula up one night and say "Darling, shall we put them on for a bit?"
