How long should it stay in for?

. . . . I'm thinking 10 minutes was a little too long. I may have voided the warranty.

The good thing is that the house is still standing

1. Umm...I think something like 15-20 seconds!
I usually just use a little bleach and hot water, and then rinse it thoroughly - I don't put mine in the microwave, though my best friend does.

2. If I remember correctly I put it in there for 60 seconds, MAX...
...and it has to be WET, really really WET, or you'll just dehydrate and/or burn it.

But that does kill the germs.

:toast:

Ya get answers all over the place!

Wet - got that ....

10 minutes will do that burn thing ... regardless.

just so that you will know from actual verified testing. Duers should have the facts

ON EDIT: Just tested this and it worked just fine. That said, I would NOT do
this without watching the sponge like a hawk for the ENTIRE 2-minute period.

6. not recommended
THE BOTTOM LINE: Although effective as a sterilizer, microwaving kitchen sponges can pose a safety hazard.

Not too much. One standup fan, hood exhaust (high) and one custom made 36" shop fan took care of it ... in a few (like 4) hours.
